Why the IRCT was founded, and what we are here to do
Our mission at the IRCT - to ensure recovery from childhood trauma is available for all children and young people
Sylvia Duncan, IRCT Chair Tweet
Our mission is to ensure that the right to recovery from childhood trauma is established and is available for all children, that resilience is developed and cycles of abuse and neglect are broken. We seek to achieve this goal by:
Influencing law policy and practice at a national and local level through lobbying, campaigning, networking and other related activities.
Disseminating key knowledge to the children’s workforce in relation to promoting and facilitating recovery from childhood trauma. This will include the delivery of conferences, seminars and other related events.
Developing principles for recovery focussed training for the children’s workforce and helping partners to develop and deliver such training.
Promoting a better public understanding of childhood trauma and its consequences to enable and facilitate recovery.
Encouraging and promoting further research into childhood trauma, its consequences, and measures that can be taken to heal and mitigate those consequences.
